Chiemezie Nwakire is the founder, creative director and perfumer behind Nwaky Artisan Perfumery, a brand shaped by memory, place, experience, and a lifelong relationship with scent.

He was born and raised in Anambra South-Eastern Nigeria, where scent was never something abstract or decorative. It was intertwined into daily life. Every food carried distinct aroma. Plants were identified by the smell of their leaves and roots. The air itself shifted with the seasons, announcing what was coming long before it arrived. By the age of five, scent had already become his quiet language and a way of understanding the world before he had words for it.

His professional path began in science. Chiemezie was trained as a Microbiologist, then went on to complete two master's degrees: one in Safety and Environmental Management, and another in Medical Biotechnology in Edinburgh Scotland. For over a decade, he has been working in the pharmaceutical industry, where he currently serves as an EU Qualified Person. This foundation is not incidental to his perfumery; it is central to it. Precision, safety, quality, and responsibility were never concepts adopted later. They are principles he has built his entire career upon.

Perfumery re-entered his life through curiosity. He wanted to understand how scents were constructed, what gave them structure, how raw materials interacted, and how emotion could be made tangible. That curiosity became practice, experimenting, studying, and blending until it became clear that what he was creating was not simply perfume, but a way of preserving lived experience.
